I am wondering if you replaced the thermocouple here... or did you just wake to find no hot water and only the pilot lit??

For now, I will assume you replaced the thermocouple and then I need to ask if after you lit the pilot... did you turn the pilot knob to the ON position?

Then did you turn the thermostat dial (big red or black dial on front of gas valve) up to correct setting to heat water to approximately 125 degrees F?

Basically, if replaced thermocouple or just installed water heater this advise should help you.

If water heater pilot lit and you did nothing and burner is not lighting then I would advise you to shut the gas valve down and then follow instructions on front of heater to re-light pilot and then do as I have suggested up top (turn top knob on, turnfront dial up)... see if that works. If it doesn't, the gas valve may be defective!

HOW old is this water heater..

    Get back to me... MARK
