By definition, extension cords are tempoary power sources not to be used more then 90 days.
Please outline your entire project so we can get the correct answers for you.

An electrician installed an outdoor ground fault outlet on the post of my deck with a watertight plastic "in use" cover. I want to run a pump for fountain that is about 15 feet away in the center of my yard. To provide the electricity, I wanted to put an outlet on a stake by the fountain.
