    Carving and etching eggs
    Hi everyone,
As you know I am now trying to learn the art of carving eggs,
Except I am a little confused what is the difference in carving an egg? And etching an egg/?
    Can anyone help?

Also if anyone knows a good book or video for beginners on the art of carving I would love to know.

I was just communicating with jrebel7, tonight and mentioning that there was another question about eggs concerning art. I will let her know about your post.

I will try to locate the name of a video or book later when I have more time. The best way I can answer your question tonight is to say that carving an egg is the process in which you remove total portions of the egg and an etching is leaving the egg in tact while scratching a part of the top surface away, leaving the egg whole.

I must go now but will try to get more information to you later. :)

You're great! :p

I have been carving and etching eggs now for about 12 years. I enjoy it immensely. You can gain a lot of great info (beginner to advanced) from Wood Carving | High Speed Engraving. I would also be glad to try to answer any questions that you may have.

    Daveteachout,
Always glad to have those with experience ready and willing to answer questions here on the site. I would be interested to know what dilution you use and how long you allow the solution to remain in an Ostrich Egg to kill out bacteria. Do you use bleach and water or another solution?
