    We just recently purchased a home with above ground pool. Need help. The water is turned into black already.. is it better off draining the water or will chemical work.. please help:o

    Yuck!. drain it, clean with bleach, and start over!!

    No, don't drain it, it'll cost you more to fill it back up than to treat it, I have inground, so depending on your size, you want to add 2 packs of algaside, and 2 bags of shock treatment, and at least 2-2.5 gallons of chlorine, within a couple of days you should be OK to swim, and you might need a quick vacuum, so good luck, all that always works for me when I let it go for a while, I have all kinds of nasty green algae in it, cleans it up no problem.!
