    One sided escape clause
My wife and I are in a lease to own in California. Our landlords put an escape clause in it for them if they have financial trouble or health problems they can break the lease with 30 day notice and return our money we put towards purchase. (700.00 a month) my wife lost her job and I lost mine for 8 weeks we can't afford to live here any more. Do we have the same rights as them? I was told you can't put one sided clause like that in a contract.

No I see no reason you can't have any clause you want, as long as you both agree and sign it. But have you gone to the landlord and asked them if you can get out. The issue here is that they will pay you back all of your money if they have to get out, if you want out, what are you going to pay them to be allowed out?
