I am having a very sharp pain in my left side. I haven't had sex in 5 months, but Im worried. Can an ectopic pregnancy occur this late? The pain in my side is almost unbearable, I have been getting dizzy and having head aches. I have had 4 normal periods since then, except they have only lasted about 4 days each, where as they used to be like 6 or 8 days. I can't go to a doctor at the moment either, so could anyone tell me if 5 months is too far along to get an ectopic pregnancy?

You would have had an ectopic pregnancy right from the beginning--it doesn't become one. (Ectopic means the baby grows in one of the tubes instead of in the uterus.) I'm not a doctor or nurse, but would guess you would have noticed a problem and pain before 5 months.

If you're really in bad shape, go to the ER. They have to treat you whether you have insurance. You didn't mention where you live. Is there a hospital fairly close by?

It could be a kidney stone trying to pass or it could be a muscle spasm or who knows what it could be. That kind of pain would force me to go to a hospital.

It may be a kidney stone! I've had them numorous times.. and they suck really bad.. make you feel very sick.. and? Put you in a LOT of pain.. but? If you can't take the pain.. you really should go get checked some how! If it is a kidney stone.. it could be too big to pass.. and you mite need to have it surgically removed!! Goodluck!

Well Ive been to the doctor and they did blood work and urinalysis, both of which they said were normal. They said that it was most likely related to my period and told me to come back Friday if the pain was still there. It hasn't lessened any yet. Do you think I might have a cyst on an ovary or something? It's the only thing I can find on the internet that they say can cause sharp side pain, shoulder pain, dizziness and headaches. Any one have any more input? Thanks for everything that's been said so far. Im just really really hoping its not an ectopic pregnancy. If it was do you think it would have showed up in the blood work or the urinalysis, or would they even check for pregnancy when they did those if they didn't expect it. Im so scared right now, and Friday is still so far away.

It may be pluracy, if you get bouts of shivers and hotflushes and pain in between your ribs. If it is get it checked by a doctor. It usually occurs in older people but I had it for two weeks, and I'm only 14. Belieeve me it hurts your sides but it gets better quickly x
