Confused about what I should do.
    Hi all,
There is this girl I like at school. I just recently met her about halfway through the second semester, when I was helping one of her friends with a problem in class. During class we would talk and make jokes. And she would smile and laugh accordingly. And after about two weeks I found out that she had a boyfriend, but the reason I found out was that they had broken up, and I asked her friend why she was sad that day, and that was the reason. She had been dating this guy for about 2 years I think, and he dumped her for another girl that was flirting with him all the time. Anyway, its been about 3 or 4 weeks since the breakup and I've asked for her number and she gave it to me. And I talk and text her. But when I asked her what she was doing this weekend she said she was going to do homework and hang out with a guy named Austin. I then proceeded to ask her if she wanted to go to the movies tomorrow and she said that since she saw a movie last night her dad probably wouldn't let her go see another one. My question is did I move in to fast after her long breakup or is it because of another guy, or am I just paranoid.

Don't worry about those things. Keep developing your friendship with her. Keep asking her out to innocent and fun things. If she tosses her dad at you, tell her to ask him anyway. Don't give up, but don't be over-pushy either. Keep it light-hearted and enjoyable, even when she says "no" to your date requests, you stay the course.

I agree, don't worry. She gave you her number. Just try to take things slow and keep in mind that she may not be ready for another serious relationship right away.

You are doing good... what you need to do is keep doing what you do and when the time is right or should I say you think the time is right then you can move on and ask her

Ok. Its been a few days and we are still texting and stuff, but when I ask her what's she doing on the weekend she says she hanging out with a guy named austen. I'm starting to think that she likes him. So I was wondering what to do. I still want to be friends with her and everything because she is pretty cool. So any help here would be nice.

Find something you like to do that is an "event" like a concert or something and invite her to it. You can't be concerned about her feelings for another guy until such time as she starts saying "I have a boyfriend."

Until then, you have every right to stay in the game, too.

Naw! There isn't anything wrong you did! That other guy austin might be only a friend that she probably knows for a while. Right now she probably is confused about what happened with her ex. If she is smart she will take time to start dating again or to get over her ex. You and the other hand can be around and see what happens from there and keep making her laugh and makes jokes to make her feel good for now! Good luck guy
