Can I use thinset mortar on drywall
I wouldn't and here's why first if your doing a bath you should be using a cement backer board. If your doing something like say a kitchen backsplash I would use mastic adhesive. I suppose you could use a modified acrylic thinset but post back and let us know exactly what your application is (bath , Kitchen etc.) and we can give better info. GOOD LUCK, AC
I am agreeing with ac quite often these days, he and I should open a shop but he has to commute. Thinset is fine for ceramic on concrete flooring but not for walls, its dries brittle. Modified thinset stays slightly pliable and acts more like a paste glue. If this is a bathroom you should be using at least green or blue board or paperless drywall for the room and Hardibacker, wonderboard or cement board for the shower enclosure\, all with modified thinset
Hey ballenger the shop idea sounds great but the commute would kill me and I won't even get started on gas prices. Besides me being a born and raised southern boy I don't think I could take the winters in Illinios. Have a good Memorial Day, AC
My blood is southern, E town and Loiusville area but raised in the cold midwest, it really was sucking this winter.
