    Remodeling bathroom
A year and a half ago my wife and I bought everything for a bathroom remodel. We have currently have a double vanity which we are replacing with two single vanities. We have also are replacing the vinyl tile with ceramic, the fiberglass molded tub with cast and sep. surround, and new toilet. So far we have the double out and are looking at the condition of the floor. We don't know yet what lies behind the tub.
Ive heard its best to replace as much as possible to avoid any problems. The copper for the sinks comes up from the floor and curves out with a shut off. The shut offs are leaking pretty badly, should we cut the copper and replace with all new from there? Also should we take up all of the subfloor and replace, it was pretty wet behind where one of the sinks was, and the floor under was pretty wet also. We are stopping until we get a better idea of where to go next. We could use some advise on what we might need to go forward. We have all of our tile and related materials and tools. We have a reciprocating saw to take out the existing tub, which was put in as new construction when the house was built in 1978. We are new to all of this but watch a lot of home improvement and are both pretty handy, my wife much more so than me.

I may get a augment about this from some of the other experts but I'm a great believer in, " If it ain't broke don't fix it." If it don't leak leave it be unless it looks so bad you just have to change it. If the floor's spongy then replace it and fix whatever got it wet. We vwill be glad to mhelp but first you must tell us exactly what you need help with. The drainage? Settinf fixtures? Water piping? What? Let us know. Regards, Tom

Right now main issue is flooring, and getting the one piece molded tub out. Its molded in all around including top. As for sinks the cooper up from floor looks fine the elbow and extension to the shut off looks pretty bad and I think is leaking from where the shut off is attached to the extension.
As to the flooring, it looks like a layer of some kind of wafer board was put over the sub floor and then the vinyl tile. What's the best way to prep the floor for the new tile? Should any of the subfloor be replaced, at least one section under one of the sinks was wet and spongy.
