I GOT MY PERIOD twice in less than two weeks.could I have had a miscarriage?
Hello... about a week ago I had my period and last night I had it again for one night. Its not heavy and is kind of brownish and I'm scared that I got pregnant within the last week and didn't realize it and then had a miscarriage which is tearing me apart to think that's what it can be. I'm in my early twenties and use heroine somehwat regularly and the night I got it the second time I had used. I never planned on having children this young... especially till I get sober... but I never wanted to loose any either...

Using heroine is never a good thing. Can it cause a miscarriage? Yes and worse, drug addicted babies, deformities in the fetus, and death to you. If you are not ready to become a mother I might suggest birth control.

I don't plan of having a child anytime soon and I would never use if I knew I was going to have a baby that's why I am a bit in shock right now. But is this a sign of a miscarriage? Do you get brown discharge for a night or so? Because I heard that that can also mean a few other things or that it could be a natural thing.

Brown discharge is usually what is referred to as "old blood." Blood that is left over from previous menstruation.

But having your period twice in less than 2 weeks warrants a check up by your doctor.

Thank you for helping me with this... so old blood can arrive a week after your period and not just immediately after?

Now is the time to quit the heroine... find a program, get it taken care of. If your husband it also a user, he needs to as well as he will be part of the baby making team.
As J_9 said, this is your bigger issue at the moment. Birth control is not 100%, so you will always run the risk of becoming pregnant when you least expect it.
The second bleed was not a period. The brownish blood could very well have been left from your period... usually a miscarriage would be red bleeding. If you had recent intercourse, it could be from that as well.
Get the addiction taken care of, or you very well could not have to worry about a pregnancy... the heroine can effect both your's and your husband's fertility... or worse, you may not be around to get pregnant in the first place.

The only problem however... is that I did have brown discharge but I also had bleeding...

That's what is scaring me... it stopped now but it started when I was having sex. How much blood does a miscarriage cause and does it only happen for one day? Or a few? I know I'm asking a lot of questions that may sound repetitive I just am trying to get a concrete answer. I'm going to the doctors but its hard to wait till my appointment to get these answers... I feel horrible right now. I never wanted to put my addiction on anything or anyone else but myself.. .

If it happened during sex it was most likely caused by the sex. Sex can cause bleeding.

Your addiction is #1 priority right now. If you want to live and have children in the future, you must stop the heroine. At the hospitals I deliver at, when an addicted mother comes in and delivers (particularly heroine), the baby is taken away at birth and place in State's custody.

As Doula stated, it may be necessary for you to find a program for both you and your husband. Use 2 forms of birth control (although it isn't always 100% effective).

It could have just been from ending your period not long ago and then combining that with the sex. Did you start your last period about a week ago, or finish it about a week ago? How many days since your period ended?
If you've just finished your period a week ago, it would be unlikely if you had become pregnant in the time between then and now, and that if there was a fertilized egg, it wouldn't have had time to implant yet. Just as an example... say you ovulated early... maybe day 10 of your cycle... it usually takes about a week or so altogether for the egg to travel to the uterus and implant.
I know you feel horrible, the thought of possibly losing a baby, or having one when you know your aren't in the best condition to do so is scary. Maybe this your wakeup call for you and will be the catalyst for a change... something to consider. I wish you well...

It's not so easy to get sober when using opiates. Don't fool yourself, please!! There is a reason that over 90% of people relapse! It is a very powerful addiction. I speak from personal experience.

If it was a miscarriage believe me you would know. A miscarriage hurts like labor pains, it's no way you will not notice it. Go to the doctor, get checked out. This site is advice only and we are not licensed, I would suggest getting checked out, it can't hurt. Besides you don't need to beat yourself up behind it. Your not using know I hope and self pitty can result to back sliding. So stay healthy and sober, go get checked out... Good Luck

Not all miscarriages are as painful as you make them out to be. Anyway, this thread is over 3 months old. I am sure she knows the outcome by now.
