I read other posts about the AC compressor fan stopping after a few minutes. Which mine is doing, so I replace both capcitors and the fan motor, but it still stops after about 10 to 20 minutes. The compressor continues to run...

What is the next stop.

Is the AC compressor fan two speed?

I don't know for sure. But I would say no... how can I tell..

I do notice it doesn't seem to be running quite as fast I think it should.. it's like it's on medium and not HIGH.. :)

You did say you replaced the fan and evidently didn't have any wires left over or did you?

Sometimes the outdoor unit can switch speeds dependent on temperature. e.g. It uses a slower speed at night when the air is cooler or it can be two stage cool and controlled by the stat.

Also make sure the blower is blowing in the right direction.

I can't read a schematic I can't see.

I had no wires left over..

The fan is spinning in counter clockwise direction.. how do I know if this is correct?

Fan spinning counter-clockwise means nothing. It's the direction of air flow. I can't give a good rule of thumb on how to determine correct direction of air flow.

Motors are specified clockwise or counter clockwise as you face the shaft.

Just thinking that the airflow could be in the wrong direction or the motor the wrong speed.

If your motor mounts on top of the unit it should be blowing up and out. If its blowing out the sides of the unit around the condenser coil I would say its running the wrong way. Did you make sure you got the right motor? You can't replace a 825rpm motor with a 1075rpm motor it will over heat.

I agree with T-top, either it's miswired or you have the wrong size motor, I'm willing to bet it's miswired. How many wires do you have? What is connected to what?

Ok.. then it's spinning in the right direction... and I replaced it with the 'same" motor.

Since replacing the motor and capacitors did not solve the original problem.. there must be something else going bad ? What else can be going bad?

Do you own a voltage meter? Are you sure that you replaced wire for wire? There really shouldn't be anything else related to the fan motor , unless it has a speed control or a low ambient kit. Did you hook two wires from the motor directly to the contactor?

I THINK I replaced it wire for wire...
New motor has black, yellow brown and brown and white..
Brown and white is not used and capped off..
Black is to the power
Yellow is going to capacitor..
And brown to other capacitor...

Is the yellow wire on the same side of the capacitor as the brown? If so move it to the opposite side. A picture would be helpful.
