Leaving Buster home for the weekend
I have a 10 month old jack russel terrier/shepard mix puppy and we are going to my sister-in-laws house for the weekend. He is house broken but is he to young to leave outside by himself for 2-3 days? The weather at our house is suppose to be cool this weekend.

No dog at any age shoule ever ever ever be left alone outside for any duration of time when you are not at home. Really! If you don't want the animal take him to the local human society and allow someone that loves animals to take Buster in. There are laws that protect animals and if you leave him outside alone for 2-3 days as you stated you'd be breaking more than one. That is why they have kennels where dogs can be supervised safely. Please take him there.

10 months is just a baby. Kennel the sweetie, or take him with you.

He needs to be with you. When you took him in he gave you unconditional love. How about a little love for him. Please don't leave him.. give him to someone who will love him unconditional if you cant

Perhaps I was too harsh for some, I meant no harm, Really just do the right thing. Not everyone feels as strongly as I do about our fur babies. I couldn't imagine turning the corner with one of mine outside and I have to realize that not everyone shares the same feelings. My bad.

I would not be as much worried about the weather as what kind of devilment a puppy that age could get into unsupervised over that long a period. Also would be concerned about people who steal dogs.
We left for a while a few years ago and came home after dark. Our Pit Bull was barking continuously, even after I yelled at him that it was us and he didn't have to keep yapping. When we went out to the back yard to see what his problem was, we found him with his front feet on the ground and the large pad on one hind foot caught in the chain link. He must have tried to climb over the short fence that separates the front & back yard. My husband somehow got him loose while I was looking for the bolt cutters. It's freaky things like that that make me enlist a house-and-pet-sitter if we have to be gone overnight.

Just to let eveyone know I have turned my life upside down out of love for this dog he is one of the family. I posted the question to prove to someone else that he IS to young to be left home. I didn't leave him alone I had a sitter take care of him. I would be horrified and crushed if anything happened to our little buster boy. So would my 7yr old and 2yrold.
