I have a question that my friends and I have been wondering about. Is there a proper name for the rolling pin. Please let me.

Through much research, I have not found anything that the "rolling pin" was called in early years.

The link above only gives different uses for it, and the different types.
I would imagine it started as a "rolling stick or log" , but cannot find any proof of that. Maybe someone else has a better answer.
