I filed a amended 1040x for 2006 + 2007 and last week I received 2 letters from the IRS showing some corrections they made to my forms but no check. I used direct deposit for the last 3 years on my regular refunds and was wondering does the IRS direct deposit amened tax refunds to bank accounts or mail a check out instead.:confused:

The IRS does NOT do direct depsoits for amended tax returns.

For the life of me, I have NO IDEA why not, but that is they way it is.

IRS takes 8 weeks to 12 weeks to process the amended tax return. Also, As AltantaTaxEXpert said on the amended tax return, you can not enter your account information so you will get refund by paper check.
After 8 weeks of sending the amended return, you can call IRS and find out about your refund check.
