    Computer Won't Turn On
I have a Dell Dimension E510, that won't start. I read a few other posts about the problem but mine seems a little different so I thought to start a new thread.

Basically when the computer it completely shut down and off, when I press the power button to turn it on. It does nothing. The light will blink on and off an orange like color. No sounds or anything. At the same time our Router box (a linksys) the 2 slot light will blink which is the slot my computer is connected to. I read another post about un plugging or un hooking my modem etc and trying to boot it up with out it as it sounded like a similar problem and still it did the same thing with no change.

What makes my little problem different is that.. when you push the power button enough times, with the same out come of the orange blinking light etc etc. It will make a boop/beep sound accompanied by a flash of the power light to green before going orange again. If you press it once more after it makes that noise it will repeat the noise and boot up completely to windows. And Run perfectly. So long as I don't ever turn it off, I have no problems with it. It's running fine at the moment while I'm here searching for answers. It's just frustrating, that it could take anywhere from 30min to an hour to get it to actually Turn on to use it.

I have checked the Dell website about trouble shooting and whatever else. It mentioned something about it not getting enough power to boot. But my fiancé opened the side of it up to make sure everything connected properly and everything else he said the mother board had power during the orange light flashing stage, as did everything else. We're at a lost to what the problem could be.

Any suggestions in terms of computers for dummies would help me out immensely. I'm not very Tech smart when it comes to these things so if you need more information such as like spec's or specific model numbers, can you tell me where to find them as well so I may be able to provide them for you.

    Thank You :)

Looking into the power supply unit in the PC may be the place to start at, they are inexpensive - just have to make sure you get the same power specs as the one in the unit now. Should be on power suplly, if not sure ask someone who may be familiar.

Here is the pwer supply specs that came with the e510

    Voltage Required AC 120/230 V
    Power provided 305 Watt

Try unhooking everything from the back of the system (all cables) see if the light changes. If it doesn't then you are looking at a power supply or a motherboard.

Thank you everyone for your answers. My fiancé took your suggestions before going out and buying a replacement power supply. Once installed the problem was solved. :) Thank you again
