My tongue has a weird taste after my peircing
 Okay I've had my tongue peirced for about a week and a half now and it feels fine and it doesn't hurt at all. But, I have this weird taste in my mouth and the barbell for some reason feels kinda cold is this a sign of infection if so should I switch to a titanium barbell?

What kind of a taste is it? Can you compare it to something as best as you can?

The barbell feeling cold is caused by you breathing in and out through your mouth. Since the barbell is in your mouth, it is constantly wet from your saliva. When you breathe through your mouth, the air you take in combined with the barbell being wet is what causes the cold feeling. Nothing to worry about there -- not even close to a sign of infection. :)

It could be a couple of things :

    1. You have metal in your mouth. That could more than likely be a cause for a metal taste.

    2. It could be blood. Have you noticed any blood lately, even if its just a small amount?

Ok, I know this is gross, but is the white stuff kind of stringy? And does it like to hang out kind of right under the ball on your barbell? And is it yellowish white, greenish white, or just plain white?

Not necessarily. Why does everyone always think that the slightest little thing that is happening to a piercing is infection? It is not always.

Let me make it easy for you. Signs of an infected tongue piercing include severe redness, severe swelling, and/or a yellow or green discharge that smells and tastes badly (a rotten taste, not metallic). Excruciating pain can also be present. An advanced infection can also include fever and/or swelling. If you have any of those symptoms, then yes, see a doctor.

Pain is not always infection. Swelling is not always infection, and so on and so forth. Telling someone to go to the doctor when they don't even have any symptoms of infection can get costly.

That is actually good. It is not infection. The white stuff is called lymph -- it is your body's white blood cells trying to patch the hole caused by the piercing. It is your body's natural defense mechanism. It will eventually go away.

To remove it, soak a Q-tip in warm water and gently just remove it from your tongue/barbell.

This happens to just about everyone and is not a cause for concern unless it turns green or yellow. It should go away within a week or so. :)

I always wanted to ask this question of girls with tongue piercings. Why do you do it?
Young woman at work told me it was "sexual" in nature. Is that the reason or was she pulling my leg?

No its not that I just like the way it looks.. I like new pierces I think many of them can be a statement or be apart of a statement. I don't think that it's the ring that's sexual it's the person.

Omg, I got my tongue pierced like yesturday, and I'm feeling exactly the same way lol. Like 2 years on from posting this, but I'm so appreciative you did!
When I got my lip pierced, it went cold and horrible, and got infected, and eventually rejected, so I was feeling the same way, like it was going to reject. Panic much D:
I kind of need my tongue lol.
    Thanks again
