Latin Translation - Preferably by a person.
I'm looking for a translation for the Edmund Burke 'quote' [never cited, but frequently attributed], "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing."

If that doesn't translate well, there are numerous variations that may work better.

Edmund Burke - Wikiquote has many of the versions of the phrase.

Please let me know which you translated and how accurate you believe it is.

Any help with this is very much appreciated.

"C u m boni nihil faciunt homines, malum praevalet."

("Evil prevails when good men do nothing.")

Is this a fun, little project you are doing, or what?

I recently went through a very bad breakup, where the majority of the people who knew both myself and the girl knew that she was doing something they considered wrong, but were not willing to say anything to me about it. So many people told me that it wasn't their place to say anything, that they didn't want to take a side, or that they were trapped and couldn't do anything. I think that in the end, it still comes down to the quote above; if you're not willing to stand up for what you know is right, then the things you consider wrong in the world will continue to spread and people will continue to get needlessly hurt.

I don't ever want to forget this feeling. I want to keep it, and learn from it, and use it to be a better person. One way I'm considering doing that it to have it tattooed on me; the pretentious part of that thought, of course, was to do it in Latin.

    Thanks for the translation.

I honor and respect your experience and wish you well. There are better ways to go than a tattoo to help you remember.
