    Swallowing Gum While Being Pregnant
I am currently in my first trimester with my first child. I love to chew bubble gum and I have a habit of swallowing my gum. Is it going to hurt my unborn child?

It should not have any adverse effects other than your kid will come out craving to blow bubbles with bubble gum. It's not a good idea to keep swollowing gum.

No, it won't hurt either of you, but it holds little nutritional value, so don't make it a regular part of your diet... ;)

I'm sorry but are you for real? Your uterus is NOT in some way connected to your stomach. And No it will not harm your child. However gum is made to chew and then spit out.

Actually, when you think about it, it makes sense to ask since anything a woman ingests may go to baby in some small amount after digestion (obviously not as a direct route)... this is why healthy eating, abstaining from drugs and alcohol, etc. are important.

Gum is not drugs, although there are chemicals in everything now a days. You need to stop swollowing gum. At anytime, whether your pregnant or not.

By the way, congrats on being pregnant.

Heaven help us with the questions we are having tonight. Your dental health is very important especially now that you are pregnant. Since you are chewing sugary gum make sure you brush and floss regularly as well as get an dental exam. Poor dental heealth can lead to many problems for mommy and baby. So just lay off the gum!
