    New Garage Door Opener
I live in a gated community and each unit has a Linear receiver attached to their openers so that 1 remote can be used to open the Main gate as well as each residence. I just had a new Chamberlain Whisper Drive opener installed but the installer tells me that I will need a 24 V transformer in order to use the Linear receiver. Can anyone tell me how to wire the opener and receiver?

Does your Linear use DIP switches, or does it have a "Learn" button?
    How many terminals on Operator?
Operator may have transformer built in?

My unit has 8 dip switches and the operator has 2 terminals.

120 volts to transformer, out of transformer to linear power connections, then the dry contacts(normally open connect to the 2 terminals. Unless they are marked otherwise.
If this is a 1 button remote, how do they keep every one from opening each others door?
I am guessing the Gate receiver has a learn function.

From what I am hearing, the only new connections that are needed are receiver connected to the transformer and receiver connected to the Power button. Does this make sense? Thx.

Yes, but the "receiver connects to the power button".
The receiver actually connects to the "open" terminals.
If you connect a jumper between the 2 terminals, does it open the garage door.
Don't connect jumper if they are power terminals.
If you can provide Chamberlain #, I may be able to get manual for you.

Yes, the receiver connects to the power button. I had the unit installed yesterday. I also ordered a 24 volt transformer and will connect it when it arrives.

I have the Chamberlain manual that came with the opener (if that's what you are referring to). Perhaps the transformer will also come with instructions. Should get it by tomorrow. Thx.

The transformer won't tell much except 120 volts in and 24 volts out. And Voltamps.
I would think only 2 terminals would be a dry contact in(if you touch 2 together door opens/closes? Sounds like you are saying these 2 are for power?
Do you have beams that stop door from closing when blocked? where do they connect to?
