    Ballistics and shotguns
Is it possible to obtain reliable identification evidence from the shotgun wadding? For example, are markings found on an expelled wadding reliable for identifying the weapon used to fire the cartridge? Thanks

In some cases, but not all, yes, it is possible.

By examining the wadding, one can determine the type of shot, gauge of gun, and possible evidence to identify the gun.

Not nearly as easy as a rifle or pistol, but possible.
