    The Fly review part 1
Answer me this my friends, what do you get when you splice a man with a fly? You don’t know, well thankfully you have come to the right place.

Welcome to 1987’s The Fly starring Jeff Goldblum, Geena Davis, John Getz and introducing buzzy the simple but misunderstood housefly.

Goldblum plays Dr Seth Brundle, named after the famous Formula one driver Martin Brundle. Seth is somewhat of a recluse when we first meet him, although the man does have the balls to chat up Geena Davis so he has my respect as well as my jealousy.

Anyhoo turns out old Seth has been busy making a giant cylinder head for a next generation Ducati but realised halfway through that he’s only gone and made a teleporter, what's the chances ehh?

The first scene in the movie has Seth talking to Geena’s character Veronica somethingortheother about his project which will change the world as we know it, she's sceptical but he offers to take her back to his and show her. AMAZINGLY she agrees and heads off with the man she met merely minutes before. A key thing to note in this first scene is how we meet the characters in mid conversation, its unique and quirky at the same time, I mean we never actually get to see them meet or introduce each other but the movie explains how they might have met.

So back to Seth and Ronnie as she no doubt likes to be called, maybe she's a fan of snooker or the krays, we will never know sadly. Seth being the gentleman he is starts telling Ronnie how he gets travel sick, BINGOOOOO now we have his motivation.

We arrive at Seth’s workplace and home, an old warehouse in the middle of nowhere, something that I don’t understand is if its an old warehouse and no one else seems to live there then why in god’s holy name did Seth decide to live in the top floor, imagine having to climb 8 or 9 sets of stairs just to get home, its stupid and maybe another motivating factor in the telepods, he could just use them to get out of the house.

Seth quickly goes to the piano in his living space and starts playing like SAM, Ronnie and the audience are both thinking , she asks where this life changing project is and he shows her.

Cut to the Ducati Cylinder heads, or as I like to call them, the devils phone booth with a direct line to hell. Turns out these puppies are telepods, yep Seth is a fan of Star Trek. Ronnie wants proof so Seth gets her to take of one of her stockings and he uses it in the teleporter, amazingly it works.

Ronnie is so impressed she starts trying to interview Seth, amazingly Seth is bemused that a REPORTER might want to REPORT on something HE showed her and tells her to leave.

So not only did he scupper his chance of a big story but also the chance of getting laid, for a scientist this guys a bit thick.

Yeah I watched it when I was a kid and I never wanted to see it again, but now I know why he turned into a mutant fly thing
