Drain tile and sump pit and pump
Can anyone be more specific as to install drain tile and sump pit.
Like how deep should I dig down around inside of foundation. How far from the foundation walls. Should I come out and how far from the wall should I place the pipe. Can I use 4 in plastic flex pipe? Should the concrete be cut with a concrete saw then jackhammered. Should pea rock go on bottom and shoul I cover top of 4 in flex pipe with felt to avoid clogong and water drainage.

    Thanks

The questions you are asking in relation to preparing a sump pump set up require more information to be able to answer you properly. The climate you live in can make a difference as to what kind of pipe. A tile for drainage should always lie in a gradually descending bed of gravel first covered with sand and the tile would then be covered over with dirt. It is also a good idea to make sure the soil perks which is determining how long it takes water to soak down out of a hole filled with water so that you know that you have adequate drainage in the area you are pumping the water to. The pipe for pumping can be only 1and 1/2 or 2 inch pipe going into the tile. You can even just use a hose which often comes with sump pumps or can be purchased with them. The hole for the pump only needs to be below the surface of what needs to be kept drained often they are about a foot deep and must have dimensions large enough for the pump to sit in the hole. Many pumps are portable and can be set into the hole and taken out again any time. As far as how to make the hole, what kind of material is in place? What is the quality of it. Do you have easy access to the area and would it be possible to get the equipment to the area? For making the hole, I would suggest you go to a local tool and equipment rental service, explain to them the project and they will recommend what you could use. That will give you the best opportunity for having the right equipment in your circumstances. Rupert

You asked this question 2 days ago and I asked you some questions about your home and where you wanted to trench, inside or outside the foundation. If you had answered that post you'd probably have several people helping you more efficiently than reposting. Was there something I said that made you think I would not be helpful, just wondering.
