My landlord is a major slumlord. I had bees (about 400 of them, a swarm of bee's) in my apartment yesterday and I had to go to a hotel with my 2 cats. Had called him and he told me that someone will be here first thing Monday! I called a critter control company and they COULD come but at the end of the day my landlord did not want to pay for the weekend emergency fee nor come to the property! I found out that he was aware of a bee hive located on the building 2 months ago and about a week ago he looked at it and left saying he was allergic. The bee's decided to move their colony to my back rotten door yesterday and they were coming in trough my jealousy windows and trough the wall from cracks on the floor that is getting crooked (building is almost 100 years old so it's shifting). I got laid off so I am not capable to move at the moment and I don't want to call the Health Department because the other tenants are afraid the building will be condemned. What should I do? I have lived here for 12 years and he is getting worst. If I complain I am afraid that he will convict me since I have a oral agreement - can't afford an attorney at the moment... HELP!

Can of spray bee killer??

If you don't want to report him, and he will not do anything, then there is no other real choice.

If he won't do anything without being pushed you have only one choice - push him either by Attorney or a call to the Health Department or local Housing Inspector. If the building is as bad as you say - rotten doors, cracked and crooked floors - there is a risk that the landlord will be told everyone has to move until the repairs are made - and then you'll have to find a new place.

Buy some insecticide and get rid of the bees yourself like Fr_Chuck suggested. Might not be what you want but if your landlord won't do anything or is too slow you should just take care of it. Get them at the hive first so they don't keep coming into your house. You can look up the Residential Landlord and Tenant Act for your state to see what can be done legally.
