    Roof Leveling
I have a small flat roof with two areas where I get standing water after rain. The rooftop is black, not sure of the material, but looks in good shape. I was told by the neighbors that the roof on the whole house is less than 10 years old.

Is there anything like a leveling compound that I can put into the dips to level them off to avoid getting the standing water?

My gutt tells me that maybe your rafters are saging and more material of the roof will just add weight. Can you get under the roof in an attic or anything to try to raise it?

I'll give that a shot. Thanks for the suggestion. What could I raise it with, if I can get under it?

Depending on the space you have I would use a small bottle jack to raise the rafters or the main beam about 2" and then add a spacer of lumber.

    Here's what I found:

I took your advice looked into the rafters of the roof. It's a roof above a back room of our home, so it's not an attic space, or an area where I can put any kind of brace supported on the floor.

Anyway, the rafters are in good shape. There seems to have been some water damage which has softened the roof decking. It was replaced in some parts but where the dips are there is no repair work evident. Seeing this I'm getting more afraid that I'll have to re-deck the whole roof. The outer shell (black rolled roofing) is in good shape.

Can I add plywood and roofing material to cover the space, or will it have to be a tear off and re-roof job? Is redecking over the old roof a DIY project? Or is the existing salvageable to where I can put on a roof leveling compound as a patch until I can do the roof later?

    Thanks for any suggestions.
