    age difference
so, I met this guy. And he just assumed right away that I was at least the age of 18. I guess its because I look older then I really am. Which is 17.

we've been talking a lot a lot, and were really starting to like each other.
we went on our first date last night.
and I didn't think of anythinng about the age at the time.
    today.. I cleared the air.
and he was surprised to learn I'm only 17, and said he would have never guessed.

and he thinks he's okay with it.

but honestly, I'm not sure. I'm not sure if 17 & 22 can work.
we click emotionally, and I mean.. our personalities are perfect for each other. And there is a physical attraction as well.

I just don't know about the age.
    please, help me out.
should I keep talking/seeing him.. and see if something happenes?
and just hold off on having sex w/ him until I'm 18?
cause. I haven't really been "down" that road yet.
    I have. But once.

    I'm just not sure.
I really want it to work.
cause I can totally see myself with him.
so, is that all that matters?!

    thanks =]

You are a very smart girl, from what I can tell. It's not okay for a 17-year-old and a 22-year-old to date. I'm 22, and can't possibly imagine how I could connect with a 17-year-old. Nonetheless, this is not about me, it's about you. If you truly like this guy, and he likes you. Stay friends. Until you are 18. Once you are 18, if the friendship grew and went well try your hand at dating, and you'll have a nice platform to step up from. You may learn some weird things about him in the friendship that may change your mind, who knows. It's always great to be friends first. And you two have the perfect reason! Good luck, girl.

    enjay22,

I was reading your post and I thought this girl has her head screwed on. Then I scrolled down to ChihuahuaMomma reply post. Take the advice, stay friends for now. If you don't you can only get hurt. When you are eighteen or better still nineteen or twenty a four or five year age gap won't matter so much. The best relationships are built on friendship. Take it slow and enjoy your life and friends.

You know I am not normally one to approve of dating age difference and if you were one year older 18 and 22 would not sound that bad. The main issue is if the boy is going to be happy going back to a senior prom? High school dance? Does he have the ability to hold back sexual urges * not that he should not anyway**

I would say I would have to do this age on a person by person view point, is the 22 somewhat immature and the 17 more mature, and other issues.
