    Household Aluminim Wiring
    To all,

My niece's home was wired with aluminum wiring. I've noticed that lights are dimming or cutting off and other bizarre happenings on electronic devices.

I fully suspect that the aluminum wiring is the culprit. I'm pretty sure it has never been checked for loose connections.

What I want him to do is to go through every circuit in the house and make sure that the connection point are tight.

Question, do I need him to apply the antioxidant to both ends of the circuit. As in the SEP and each outlet, switch, ceiling.

Do I need him to replace wiring nuts with AL. nuts and paste? Can the paste be applied to the connection points at the panel?

    KISS
Mostly yes, except the Cu-Al nuts come with an integral anti-oxidant.
    Clean the connections.
Make sure outlets are rated for Al or Cu/Al.
Paste gets applied to panel connections.
If you'd like to prevent loosening use Locktite 222 on the threads.

Just snugging might not be the correct way. Remove. Clean. Check if outlet/switch etc is compatible with Al/ Apply paste, locktite on threads and tighten.

Don't use push holes on the outlet.

Only use Locktite 222. Clean = lightly sand
