Why does the compressor come on first when the ac kicks on in a house?
Is this normal, what if both on the units turn on at the same time

That seems normal. The A/C can't cool without a supply of compressed freon, so the compressor needs to run to do that. Your unit may sense the freon pressure before turning on the fan motor so it won't blow hot air into the house.
Hope this helps,

Mine kicks on both and I have a lot of power draw, lights dim.
Do they need to be separate coming on. Possible bad thermostat??
