    Harbor breeze fan problems
I have a 2 year old harbor breeze ceiling fan w/remote and in the past few days it isn't working properly. If you use the remote to turn the fan on high, it will run great for about five minutes and then just quit. The light will not even come on. If I give it a minute of two and flip the switch off and on(the wall switch) it will come back on. It seems to work fine on low or medium speed. We like the fan on high!! I hope that you have heard of this before and it is an easy fix! Thanks...

Some of the fan experts may chime in here, but to me it sounds like the fan may be overheating and shutting off to prevent a meltdown. When it quits, you might try feeling the motor to see if it is really hot (touch it gingerly). Also, turn off the wall switch before climbing the ladder so it won't accidentally start running while you are up there!

    Good Luck,

Fans do not have a thermal shutdown.

First, try changing the frequency of the fan and remote:

If that doesn't solve it, you may need to replace the receiver.
