Did the drill bur or file break while the dentist was doing the root canal? This does happen occasionally. There is a good chance that you will have no problem with your root canal but an x-ray should be taken every couple of years to be sure there is no infection at the tip of the root.

I know that most times when you have a root canal they put in a post. Is this what you are talking about?

If the file can be removed easily then have it removed.
