Tax implications for NRI returing back to India
    Hi,
I have a couple of questions regarding double taxation. I came to US (from India) in March 2007 and I recently filed tax return for 2007 in US. Now I will be going back to India in July.
Will I have to pay tax on my US income for months of Jan, Feb, March 2008 in India? When I file a tax return in India for the year 2008-09, will my US salary for the months of April-July be taken into account?

Any help will be highly appreciated.

    Thanks,

First you must pay taxes in the U.S. on all your income in the U.S. during 2008.

For reporting your U.S. income in India, you should consult an India CA. Also if you have to report it in India, then you must take credit for the taxes paid in the U.S. You can post your India question at an India tax forum mytaxes.in - Index
