Lawn tractor problem

I have an MTD lawn tractor with a Briggs engine. I parked it and now it will not start. The battery is charged and cracks to a sticking point and will not go past that point. I can hand turn in by the sticking point and it will crack back around and stop at the same place. It is very hard to force it by hand by turning it to get it past the one point. Can you help? The mower is 4yrs old and the oil is fine and battery is new.

Try removing the plug and turning over the engine to see if you do not have a hydraulic lock. Fuel or oil could have leaked into the cylinder. If so remove as much as you possibly can by turning over the engine a few times then replace the plug and try starting. May smoke considerably when started but the smoke should die down after a few minutes.

I would say your vavles are out of adjustment.
