Hello experts:
I know that a landlord is supposed to pay interest on a deposit, and I thought that a cell phone company does too. Cingular says they don't.
Can you direct me to some law on the issue?
Thanks,
excon

Hey excon, not wanting to bash Cingular but after they bought out ATT I have been stuck with them. They have been the worst. I have on several months paid them on time ( even have the cancelled check to prove it) but they keep claiming they never received the check, charge me late charges and then says ( and have cut off my service)
I fax them a copy of the cancelled check and they say and do take up to two weeks to give me credit after I fax them the cancelled check.
I am counting the days and minutes till I can get rid of them.
Also shop around, you may find someone that does not require a deposit at all.
Not the info you asked for, but though you may want to know the trouble I have had with them.
Hi,
I can't tell you about any law that pertains to this, but I have Cingular, and they also recently released my deposit of $100 on my account. It apparently had earned interest ($16) while "sitting there", and I have had a credit to my account of $116. Nice, since I haven't had to pay anything, but I wonder why it took them so long?
Anyway... they do earn interest; a representative of Cingular told me this because I asked where the huge credit suddenly came from. Perhaps it depends on the state, since I got interest on my deposit and you did not. Or, maybe you talked to someone unknowledgable.
Hope this helps!
