    Harassing phone calls from creditors
    Hello,
I haven't had any phone calls in over two years from creditors and all of a sudden I have had the same company phone me three times. When they asked where they were calling from and what is was regarding they immediately asked me my mailing address and I replied you have it I'm sure and I am not admitting or committing to anything until I have seen this outstanding debt on paper. How long can creditors phone regarding past due accounts that have gone to collection? Is there a time frame aloud?
    Sincerely,
    Stressed with debt

You can send them a letter stating that all correspondence be by mail.

Statutes of limitations on debt vary a great deal from state to state, assuming you are in the US.

There are limits as to what times, what days, and how many times a day they are allowed to call you.

As ScottGem has suggested, you can write them and demand that all communications be in writing via the mail and that no phone calls are to be made to you or your employer regarding this debt.

I would write such a letter, and at the same time, request validation of the debt. Send it certified mail, return receipt requested. This way if you have to take some type of legal action against them, you will have proof of your request.

You can view the following link if you are in the US, these are the laws that govern collection agencies.

Fair Debt Collection Practices Act Index FDCPA

    Good luck to you.

But wait, did you give them your address? Let them send a letter with all the details on paper. As said above, your next step is to send them a letter telling them to only deal with you by mail (make sure and send this letter registered).

After 7 years from the date of your last payment they can't call about debts anymore (7 years is pretty much the highest end of the range, it varies by state)
