Compression fittings not in far enough
I just fixed my old dishwasher line and I had to cut out a leak. I had enough copper tubing to just reroute the remaining tubing into the valve stop. However, it is an older house and the outside diameter of the tubing was a bit wider than what we use now. I got the nut on as far as I could and the ferrule on so that there was about just under 1/4'' and just over 1/8'' of meat after the ferrule to the end of the tube. I tightened the nut pretty tight and it felr solid. I ran the dishwasher cycle 2 times with no leaks.
My question is: if there are no leaks now, is there a chance that a leak can come later? Also, is there any chance a compression fitting with the ferrule clamped down on the pipe can blow off and cause a flood??
Thanks
