My ex owes me money for the deposit on his car.
My ex boyfriend owes me money for a deposit I paid on the car his driving. I didn't want to pay the deposit as I have made the mistake before. Him and his mother convinced me and promised that they would pay me the deposit back and I do not have to worry. I still resisted but as you know the story to so well I eventually gave in only when him his step dad and his mother all promised me that he will pay me back. So off I went and got the money. At the car dealer it was stated to him as well that this money would be paid back to me. I still have the receipt. And saw the car dealer just 3 moths ago and he asked me if I got my money back. So I have a witness to.

I do not really want to be in contact with my ex as this was an abusive relationship and I prefer not to see him again.

How much will the small claims court cost me ?

Each small claims court has its own fee, to cover court costs and having the people served, It should hopefully be 100 dollars or under. And of course you can ask for the cost of the court to be paid in addition to the money you are owed.

So with that said you will of course have to "see" him because he will have to be in court

The costs of filing in small claims court are minimal. Since both the boyfriend and his parents agreed to pay the deposit back, I would sue all three of them.

Just be aware that suing is only the first step. You then have to try and collect. You don't walk out of the court with the money. You will have to find assets of the defenandants and then get a court order served to attach those assets.
