    New shower cartridge leaks
To try to correct a leak in my single lever American Standard shower head I replaced the ceramic cartridge. Because I was in a hurry I decided to by an immediately available cartridge with a diverter. I would then grind off the diverter portion that sticks out. All was find however the show still leaked. I thought the grinding operation may have effected the cermac parts inside and I then purchase the correct part . The bag containing the part was marked Ultramix & Bath and shower Cartridge 051337-0070A. All was quickly restored to normal and tightening the attaching 4 screws. The shower still drips - perhaps a drip every 10 seconds. What have I done wrong and how can I correct this leak. Thus far I have spent $50 twice for the parts which no success toward a solution.

    Hi Fred,
When you had the valve open did you turn the water back on for a few minutes to flush out the supplies and open valve body. It sounds like you left some crud in there you didn't clean out. Turn the water off and open up the valve. Check for anything that may prevent the valve from seating. Good luck, Tom
