I have a model 587.1551590 and it won't start. It was relunctant for a few times.. after flipping switches and turning dial managed to get it started but don't know which switch or button "fixed" it tempararily... When it did start the wash cycle worked fine. Now I can't get it start at all. I thought it might be contact-door switch but can't locate it or plunger for it. I don't have any good drawings or description of where this might be.

It is not the door switch. The same thing happened to my dishwasher working and then not working. It is the bottom clean out that is clogged. This is a fail safe so the motor does not burn out. You need to take the screen off in the back of the bottom of the tub and clean out all the built up goo. After you clean out the goo you may want to take a plunger (cutting the wooden handle down quite a bit) and actually plunge this area getting out MORE goo. Run the dishwasher empty a few times and then plunge more goo out. It should run like new. Mine did. Don't take apart the door switch like I did as that is NOT the problem. A friend of my son had a repair manual for dishwashers and told us about the clogged screened in area drain thingy.
