I did some painting in my basement and some fumes got close to the water heater which have shut off the flammable vapor switch. And there are no instructions to reset this.

Hey Omahanasen:

If you can follow the FVS wire up to the gas valve... you should just need to unplug it and then replug it to reset the gas valve.

All I see is two wires both blue that are attached to a round black plastic barrel on top of the gas valve, do I take that off?

I think so... but I hate to guess.

All instructions I found on this recommended unplugging FVS wires... can't hurt to try to unplug... or may even want to RESET the breaker at the breaker/fuse panel and see if that restarts all this for you.

JUST be sure anything flammable is removed!

Good morning, I have unplugged both blake wires to the FVS, I have shut off the blower switch ,and I have also unplugged from power completely.
Each one of these when done comes back to the system in lock out mode.

Last thought on this one from me..

Contact SEARS and see if they can send a technician in to fix this.

Mark, I finally got hold of the senior tech at the richmond water heater company for the answer

Unplug - wait 30 seconds - push the two arrows on the control panel together until the left green light starts flashing, if it does not flash, turn off the switch on the blower motor, again wait 30 seconds, then push the two arrows until the green light flashes.
Once this is flashing, you will push the two arrows in the following sequence---

L - R - L - L -R - L - R - R

At this point it should start right up.

I have a Richmond powervent and I have to turn on and off the blower switch to get the blower to run to heat the water up. Its good for one or 2 showers and then I have to repeat this. This unit has been nothing but a huge headache
