Brushing your dog (outside!) everyday can do wonders for your dogs odor and therefore the house. While I do bath my dog at least twice a month, the brushing is key.

You know another thing I have found that helps in between baths and brushings, is spraying light spurts of febreeze. Spray some right above your dog and let it fall onto the fur. Another thing I have done, is taken a bounce sheet, and rubbed it on my dogs fur all over. Just a caution, if your dog becomes itchy and scratches, then it may be too strong and you should give him a bath, and then maybe try something like baking soda spread over her coat when she is dry, and brush it through.

As for your house? If your dog is clean your house shouldn't have the dog smell. Febreeze or Oust works wonders when it comes to pet odors, and if you have carpet, there are lots of products (like Arm and Hammer) made for the purpose of getting out dog odors, or you can also just shake baking soda on your carpet before you vacuum.

You also didn't mention if the odor is because your dog isn't housetrained. If that is the case, you will have to look around for a good stain and odor remover. A mix of vinegar, baking soda, and a bit of dish soap will also work in a pinch, but you might want to color test it in an inconspicous spot to make sure it doesn't take the color from your carpet.
