    B&S 20hp won't start
I was using my Troy Bilt the other day and it died as if it was out of gas. The tank is full and I checked to ensure the fuel pump was working; it is. I have plenty of gas right up to the front of the engine (just under the air filter). I can pour a small amount directly into the carb and it starts perfect, but dies as soon as that gas is gone. Is there an internal filter that I'm missing?

Depending on the age of the unit. Drain the gas out and check to see if there is a filter inside the gas tank. They get clogged and won't allow gas to flow as it should. Some have a tube with a filter on the end that moves around others have filter over the outlet where the tube would connect on the outside. Everything else as it should be? No cables broke and all linkagages are working like they should. I also learned but do this only if everything else fails. If you back out the two needle valves while counting the turns so you can put them back. Once out get carb cleaner with the tube on the spray end and spray into teach hole. Watch the spray back does not get in your eyes. Replace needles and try. SOmetimes dirt... very small dirt gets into these areas and clog. This has worked for me as an easy fix numerous times. I have a funnel that has a screen in the neck that I use on all my equipment to funnel out dirt.

I have a weed eater and it starts and dies. It does not stay on. I checked the filter and its not dirty. I put new gas it and it never started after that. I had it cleaned last year. New airfilter, sparkplug. What should I do

Check to see if the fuel solenoid on the bottom of the carb is still working.
