I have a ballon framed home, 3 floors with a full basement. My rear sill has had insect damage, and the floors have sunk down in areas almost 1 inch. I need to jack up my home and replace the damaged sill along with some of the floor joist. I am very handy and feel I can handle this with some professional help. Can I do this job with a couple of screw jacks and a triple 2x12? Do I need to pour any footings for the jacks? How much should I lift at a time? I am worried about cracking the walls and creating more damage as I jack up the home. Can I just sister up the joist without having to remove them? I live in New Jersey and any help is appriciated. Do I need a permit for this?
