Age that child can choose residence
At what age can a child in the state of Louisiana choose which parent they live with? Parents live in different states. Mom and children in Louisiana and Dad in New Mexico.

Louisiana does not state a specific age - it does state: "The preference of the child if he is determined to be of sufficient maturity to express a preference."

Perhaps there is an interview process, evaluation to determine whether the child is mature enough to decide.

Your local Family Court should know the guidelines.
