I have a 91 honda civic. I bought it and it had been sitting for about 4 years. I have changed the fuel pump relay and then the fuel pump,and filter but it still will not start. I took the fuel line loose from the fuel filter and there is no fuel getting to the fuel filter when turning the engine over. I don't hear the fuel pump running. COuld there be an obstructing in the line or maybe a fuse perhaps that give power to the relay------help please

WHat is the CEL and what is a k-test on ecm, I will check all fuses to day and blow air through the lines to make sure they are clean

I checked the new fuel pump relay and it was bad----so I by passed the relay and the pumps runs but still will not start. I have have fuel all the way up to the new fuel filter, I flushed the lines out real good and have new gas. However the car will still not start. There is fire because when you spray starting fuild into intake hose it tries to start. Could the injectors be froze or plugged or gummed up because the car sit about 3-4 years and the folks tried to start it and perhaps got all that old fuel. Is there any way to varify that your getting fuel to the injectors and can you rempove them and clean them. I am an old gear head and ot used to working on these new cars

Yes, the gum that has formed could be a big problem. I worked on a neighbor's small engine last week that sat for 4 years. The gum that developed in the carburetor bowl and on needle valves was as hard as rock--everything had to be torn apart and cleaned.

This gum is like a tar substance, it is not hard just rel gummy. When I removed the old fuel pump I cleaned the fuel pick up filter and flushed the lines real good. It seems to me that the injectors are stopped up. I guess I will take them off and see if I am getting fuel to them and it so try to clean them some way-----has any one had this problem

I have fuel up to the injectors however the injectors are no pumping any fuel----where do the injectors get there power from and if there is no power to the injectors what should I do

Perform the K-Test on the ECM--it wouldn't surprise me if it's bad and not allowing the injectors to work. Most fuel injectors are extremely reliable on Hondas and will work, if the main relay, ECM, and MAP Sensor are good.

Excuse my ignorance but is it possible that the injectors -- be stuck from sitting up for 4 years --and if so how can you unstick them. I am going right now to check the ecm Thanks for all the help you have been a great help ---I feel I am getting close to hearing the honda fire up

I checked the resistance between the two points on the cap of the injectors and they have around 5 each. From all information I have gathered they should be anywhere from 5-7. Does that check mean the ECM is working properly. If the injectors are stuck should I try to unstick them are buy some new ones.

You can try soaking them in MEK "methylethylkeytone" <sp> or some like solvent.

No but I done the K test like texgrease monkey instructed me to and found out that the ecu is not working. The ecu is not worrking properly sending the imformation to to the injectors for them to work---When I get the new ecu in and installed I will post an answer if that was the problem

A bad ECU would definitely keep the injectors from squirting.
