    Lexapro for depresstion
    My dr. gave me lexapro for depresstion and I just read on the bottle not to take if pregnant. Then I looked it up on Google and it said it can cause heart defects now I'm really worried are they wrong about the heart thing is my baby going to be OK??

    I took it for about a week and I just read there's a 80 precent cance of defect if taken in 3rd month and I did what do I do

    Did your OB/GYN prescribe this? Or Primary Care physician, if it was your primary care physician/psych md, then you need to call your OB/GYN. If your OB prescribed it, I would call them and talk to them about the possibility of side effects. Check out this site: Lexapro FAQs: Women Taking Lexapro there is some good information about the drug and pregnancy on there, also it clearly states that there has not been studies done on pregnant women that were taking Lexapro, and lists other preferred antidepressants for pregnant women.

    Yes I know some sites say that but 5 of them said it causes major problems and there's even a lawyr for pregnant. Women takeing this med that have caused problems, and the ob gave it to me

    Lexapro is a Category ( C) in pregnancy. This means that the benefits usually outweigh the risks.

    Basically this means that there is more benefit of you taking it than the risks associated for the baby.
