    Speeding ticket for NC, Monroe.
    Hi All,
I have got my first speeding ticket in NC, country of Monroe... I was driving 71 on 55 speed zone... I don't want my insurance to go up, can you please advise what should I do?
As I am new in the country don't know much... can you please tell that hiring an Attorney is must or can I go directly and request the judge to forgive me as it is my first time...
    Please, please help me...

Well you can request that the judge will forgive you, ( but expect the judge and DA to have a good laugh most likely, sorry but it just does not work like that)

Hiring an attorney is never a bad idea.

In some courts they will allow you to take a driving course and pay a lot of fees and they will dismiss the ticket, you need to ask the court clerk about that.

If you read the information on the ticked you received, it will normally indicate the option for a defensive driving class which if available, will keep the ticket from showing up on your driving record.

Not all states or counties offer this, but if it is available, take advantage of it!

It usually costs a little more than the fine, but by keeping it off your record, your insurance company will never know about the ticket.

If this is not offered where you are, you can go to court and ask for mercy, chances are you won't receive any. By just paying the fine, you will save some court costs that will be due if you actually go to trial.

    Best of luck to you!
