I have an old tub(1932) that I want to add a shower to. Where can I go to get the parts(diverter valve,etc) to do this. The bath is all tile so I really do not want to start removing tiles if I don't have to. There are hot and cold faucets with fill in middle.

There isn't anyway to get around the tile issue. Your entire valve needs to be removed and without access the tile must come down. You also need to install a pipe in the wall to about 72 " for the shower head. Is there a closet or access door behind the tub?

Just for fun... (I read about the tile... but... )

Is this an old CLAWFOOT TUB.. Does your current tub valve look like the faucet in my picture (or similar)..

If it does, then they sell new clawfoot tub and SHOWER faucets that swap out for the tub only valve.

Let me know if I am correct or wayyyyy off here. If correct I can tell you how to find and how to install... and if you will need a D-RING for a shower curtain.

If not clawfoot tub, may be some other options to add shower (won't be glamorous, but may be functional)... let us know.

If this were my job I'd replace with a Moen one handled tub/shower valve. Moen makes a chrome remodel plate, (see image) so you shouldn't have to tear up any tiles. You may have to open up the wall behind the shower to replace the valve. Good luck, Tom
