I smell exhaust type fumes in my home. Could it come from the roof vents? What can happen if they get clogged up?

The roof vents are meant to remove sewer gas from your plumbing it is toxic and highly explosive but smells like sewage or a rotten egg smell. Yes they can get clogged or broken sometimes by a careless roofing job or wasps or even spiderwebs. Don't go up there yourself. Exhaust fumes could be coming from your furnace call furnace repair or from your dryer check to see if it is clogged with lint or otherwise obstructed or from your car which you should not run in the garage for more than a few seconds before you back it out and always with the garage door opens. If your roof vents get clogged you will have drainage issues like sinks not draining, toilets flushing slowly etc,etc. Does this smell seem like a cars exhaust or is it something else ? Post back and try to be a little more specific if you can I know smells can be tricky but they are even worse for us since we can't smell them at all. Are these odors making you feel bad or just bothersome odors ? If you feel this is affecting your health might be best to call in a contractor to have a look or a sniff(lol) and see what they tell you. Either way keep us posted and we will try to help if we can . Oh one more thing do you have any gas appliances , Fire places anything else. As mentioned in the previous post if it smells like car exhaust do you leave a car idling in a garage or on a carport even near a package unit ac system where the whole unit is outside any of these can bring the smell into your home. I smell exhaust in my House. I have no gas appliances. My heating is electric with a heat pump. No car running in garage. Not a constant smell, comes and goes. I live very near a Airport, at first I thought it could be Airplanes? But as soon as I would get a whiff I would check out side and sometimes no plane in sight. Not sure if it is affecting my health. My sinus's are very bad and I do have a lot of head aches. Please help!

With no combustion it can't be an exhaust smell. Sewer smell?

I have some information about fumes home. You bring home a brand-new shower curtain and your eyes burn for the next few weeks. The new carpeting looks great, but nobody can stand being in the room.

I live on the 1st floor of an apartment building. For the past few weeks, I've noticed that whenever the heat from the radiators are on (warming up, hissing and clanging), I smell strange fumes (something like strong cigarette smoke) that cause my eyes to burn and water, my nasal passages and throat to be very dry and burn, and gives me a headache. Though I've smelled it in other rooms of the apartment, it seems to be centralized in my bedroom. I've called building maintenance men out, who totally blew me off: said that they had never gotten a complaint like this before and no one else in the building was complaining of anything like this.. and left. Has anyone experienced this and found what the problem was? I am seriously afraid for my health and life.

Breathing even low levels of fumes can cause watering or burning eyes and throat, dry mouth, headache, dizziness, lack of energy, and in more serious cases-vomiting. The more you know about the products you're using the better, because knowledge is truly the first step.
