Draining bathtub backs up into toilet
When bathtub is draining the water in the toilet bubbles up and later discovered t-paper in the back yard. Have city sewer not septic tank. Just moved into older home that had quite a bit of remodeling. Could the sewer lines have been clogged with debris while being remodled? Who is responsible for repair or remedy? What recourse do new owners have if problem was known to realtor and not disclosed?

Thank you, in advance for you response.

OK you got my attention, where is the t-p in the back yard? It does sound like your sewer line is plugging up down stream of where the toilet and tub come together. Could be from remodeling but likely not. How long ago did you buy this home? A broken sewer line would be a defect but a plugged line is not and we don't know what you have yet. The seller is only responsible if he knew of the defect and concealed it and that doesn't sound like this case.
