I am remodeling my basement-tearing out everything down to the studs. I have a concrete floor. What is the best material to use for the floor and the walls? I don't have any moisture problems but I am concerned that if there is a bad storm like a hurricane that I won't have to rip everything out and start over again if I get a couple of inches of water in my basement. In other words what is the most moisture resistant materials I can use that still look good? Thanks for any tips.

Moisture resistant is not water proof. If you get several inches of water in your basement there is no getting around ripping out insulation, baseboard, and wall material. Set you base plate with pressure treated lumber glued and nailed to the floor. Install paperless drywall and do not insulate the bottom 2' of the wall cavity.

Sheetrock would never work, however there are a couple of other forms of wall board that will work. Glassrock is a high fiberglass content wallboard that can take A lot of moister. The other is wonder board or concrete board. This is used in showers for tile applications and both can be textured and painted. As for the floor, you might want to look into concrete stain. It looks great and can be done in many colors and cleaning is easy.
