Irractic Idle on a 1995 Honda Civic
    Hello,

I have a 1995 Honda Civic DX, 1.5l SOHC engine, and the problem I am currently having with it is, when it is in Idle it will idle up and then down. Like if someone was stepping on the gas for a half second then letting off the gas. It will only do this when it is in neutral or idling.

At first start up in the morning it will spend about 2 seconds in a full really high idle, then starts to do the up and down idle thing. I was messing with some of the sensors under the hood, and did find a sensor mounted on the back of the motor, with a wire harness plugged into it. When the wire harness was removed the car would go to that extremely high idle and stay that way until it was turned off and turned back on with the harness connected to the sensor. I'm not sure what the sensor is called at all. I'm also not even sure if that is the actual problem or not.

I'm not very good with mechanic stuff, I usually take my car to a dealership but as I don't currently have the money to get diagnostics done I thought I would try asking my question here and see if anyone has any ideas.

    Thanks in Advance,

    Steve

Try cleaning the IACV with brake cleaner or throttle body spray.

Checked the link, and I don't think my problem is really directly related to those, but I did remove and clean the IACV last night, no dirty gunk came out of it at all, let it dry over night and tossed it back in this morning.

It seemed to idle really high for a couple seconds, then it went right back into the up and down idle. Anymore advice here would be great. But if there is no more to be found, ican surely understand that also. Thanks for the quick answer in the first place
